A quick rule of thumb
As a rough guide, one cubic metre is about one 6×4 box-trailer load. So a 4m³ skip holds roughly four trailer loads — without the back-and-forth to the tip.
What size skip bin do I need for my job?

Don’t forget about weight
Every skip has a weight allowance as well as a volume. Heavy materials like soil, sand, rubble and concrete add up fast — a bin can hit its weight limit long before it looks full. If your load is heavy, it’s often smarter to choose a slightly larger bin or call us for advice.
